Clearplay Test is used at a similar stage in the exploration workflow to that of 3D seismic. It provides resistivity information before drilling, and when interpreted alongside other subsurface measurement, upgrades or downgrades prospects in the portfolio. The service can also provide an improved estimation of the total hydrocarbon volume.
After the first exploration well has been drilled, Clearplay Test can be applied to search for other prospects with similar resistivity signature in the same area.
Technology and products
- Data acquisition is typically performed by towing a high power EM source over a grid of receivers, 1-2 km apart.
- We evaluate the data with our 2.5D and 3D modelling and inversion software, where we can incorporate structural information from seismic interpretations.
- We deliver 3D resistivity models and EM attributes in industry standard SEG Y cubes. When seismic interpretations are incorporated, we provide one model, which contains both structural and resistivity information.
The integration of EM data with seismic and other geophysical and geological information is enabled, giving explorationists a clearer, more complete understanding of the subsurface and enabling our customers to draw their own conclusions.
