Customers come to us because of our modelling experience, and for our rapid, accurate modelling schemes that can simulate the EM field for 2D or 3D earth models of any complexity. And, our 1800-node cluster ensures that we have the capacity to deliver quickly and with sufficient iterations to ensure geologically meaningful results.

Sensitivity studies

To maximise confidence in the results, sensitivity studies inform each stage of the decision-making process. Before the survey, we create a 3D geo-model that is as accurate and complex as the available information allows. Fast 1D plane-layer modelling is used to provide rapid analysis. It helps to answer the core question of whether a CSEM survey is likely to be successful in the geological setting. If reasonable sensitivity is shown, we then use state-of-the-art, commercial model-building software to develop realistic and detailed 3D resistivity models.

Virtual surveys for optimised survey design

We run a series of virtual surveys using 3D resistivity models. This process, which uses bespoke algorithms, completes the feasibility assessment and enables us to determine the best acquisition parameters for the local conditions. The result is an optimised survey design: one that ensures that, once at sea, we can provide you with accurate and validated information.

Modelling for hypotheses testing and interpretation

3D resistivity models are also used to test hypotheses in the interpretation phase. Following data inversion, we build and evaluate geo-model hypotheses. This ensures that we examine the robustness of the inversion results and the subjectivity of any interpretation.
