They can operate continuously and reliably for very long periods and without impact on the marine environment. Their frequency spectrums can be optimised to suit local conditions, and they can illuminate hydrocarbon targets through more than 3 km of rock, regardless of the water depth.
Each of our purpose-built 3D EM vessels is equipped with parallel source systems, which includes winches, cranes and hydraulic feeds. This minimises technical downtime and helps to reduce data delivery times.
Key features
- Power to transmit energy deep into the subsurface with a 1250-A peak output strength
- Custom-designed navigation software developed by Concept Systems and based on its GATOR system
- Advanced positioning system developed by industry leaders Kongsberg Maritime and Sonardyne for the remotely operated vehicle industry, as the source’s location must be accurately known
- Precise timing, so that the received EM fields can be synchronised with the source’s signature using GPS time-reference signals backed up by accurate on-board clocks
- Environmentally benign. Independent studies have demonstrated that, despite having the power to penetrate over 3000 m of rock, our source does not harm marine life.
- Excellent reliability. Custom manufactured by Siemens to our design, which has been continuously improved over years of operation
- Optimised signal for improved survey results by specifying the frequency components and corresponding amplitudes for each survey. The frequency range is from 0.05 to 10.00 Hz.
